White noise has been posted to iTunes. I'm very pleased on how popular it has become and all the great feedback. All efforts will be made to include all suggestions in the next release.

White Noise

Postby RickMGoldie » Wed Sep 10, 2008 10:58 pm

Did you know that sleeping with white noise playing is thought to assist with retraining auditory filters to improve some symptoms of tinnitus?

Pity that pure white noise in not on the menu with this app despite the name!

It could be a clinical wonder app.

I did not know that. Sounds interesting! BTW--The "TV" button is really white noise but I just labeled it that way to keep it short. So, give that a shot and see if it works for you. :)

Thanks for downloading!

Feature Requests

Postby toddm » Thu Sep 11, 2008 6:03 pm

I am taking all the reviews posted about White Noise, giving priority to the 5 star reviews of course :), and working on the next release. If you have a sound or feature you gotta have, please post 5 star review with that request and I will take it very seriously.

Here is the current list which I'll be updating as more feedback comes in.

New features:
1. Ability to download new sounds without upgrading the app
2. More sounds--Thunder, rain, etc...
3. Ability for timer to be shutoff.
4. Displaying time left down to the seconds to reduce confusion on if it's enabled.

Hey

Postby Alec Smith » Fri Sep 12, 2008 3:07 am

Wow, this is really awesome how you are taking so much concern about the user reviews!!
I wish other developers cared this much. :D
Thank you so much for saying your gonna add my idea about being able to download sounds without having to update the version!
I have been sooooo hoping a developer would be smart enough to do this, and I'm really glad you guys did!

Ps. I finally understand how to use the timer. It was just a little harder for me because it is different than ambiance's or aSleeps.
But I'm glad I figured it out.
Thank you for also saying your gonna add the ability to turn off the timer in the next update!
I really enjoy listening to these sounds and don't want it to stop. :)
Good luck with this app, and I will probably post more on this to let you guys know whats up. :D

You really took some time crafting that review. Had to read it a few times to take it all in :) Thanks for spending the time and suggesting ways to make White Noise better. Much more to come! Cheers, Todd

I'm really glad you liked the review!
Ill write a whole new review once the new version comes out.
I totally love reviewing White Noise and talking to you because
I really want to be a game developer, a programmer, or a color coordinator when I'm older. It has been my hobby since i was 10, so I'm getting pretty good at it.
Its awesome that I'm actually able to talk to you,
because I would have never had a chance to talk to the developers of
the other apps because they don't take the time to.
I am really excited for your next update!
I bet White Noise is gonna be a lot better than Ambiance because
Ambiance really has a lot of room for improvement.
And white noise is just starting off, it is pretty good so far.
There's a lot of things i like on White noise.
haha, i love the thumbnail, its way cooler than Ambiance's by far.
If you have time, you should also make it possible to play multiple tracks at once.
And if you ever need help with anything or inspiration you could always email me if you want!

Trouble with timer

Postby dmccall » Tue Sep 16, 2008 11:12 am

I installed WhiteNoise last night and enjoyed it. The timer didn't work, however, and I woke up at 4am having a dream that Barack Obama was cooking pancakes on the sidewalk outside of my office's front door.

:D

How does this work?

My only suggestion is to have the application begin at a VERY low volume. It's easy to turn the volume up, but kind of startling to have it begin loudly.

The timer is always on and in the format of HH:MM (Hours:Minutes). Once you touch the timer bar it always resets to the new time. Once you leave it alone you should see the timer count down after every minute has elapsed. For example, if you put the slider all the way up it will be set to 8 hours. After 1 minute it should reflect (7:59).

New version addresses remembering settings with volume and timer. And allowing you to originze and set your favorites. The sound that plays by default will be your Top 1 of the 8 displayed. We have a sound catalog that allows you to pick additional sounds (over 20)

Todd

The Sound fading out in the last 30 seconds.

Sure that is not a problem. Can I ask why? Wouldn't you be asleep at that point? :)

Well, I use it this way: I set it to a short time, like 10-20 minutes (to save battery life). Sometimes it wakes me up when the sound suddenly stopps, I guess because I wasn't sleeping to deep in that moment.
I hope fading out will help.

I'm glad to hear you can do it.. 30 seconds was just a number, maybe a very very slow fade out for 1-2 minutes does the trick even better!?

New Feature ?

Postby G_Craig » Sun Sep 21, 2008 1:34 am

A couple of things that would be usefull for myself would be:
- Different volume levels for each speaker. (for earphone use)
- tone adjust
- pitch adjust
- Ability to save above settings or select to return to default

Welcome to the day to day of another Tinitus sufferer.

Great ideas and I think you'll really like the new version as it will satisfy most if not all of your requests. Cheers, Todd
